Premier League: Benjamin Mendy cleared of abuse allegations

AndThe former Manchester City footballer, Benjamin Mendy, has been found not guilty in one case of rape and another of attempted rape, according to a judgment issued by the Chester Court (England) on Friday.

The French player, who broke down in tears after learning of the decision, was also acquitted last January in the same room in connection with six counts of rape and one of sexual assault.

At that hearing, the jury did not reach a verdict on the counts of rape and attempted rape, although today it found him not guilty on both counts.

Mendy, 28, was suspended by Manchester City in August 2021, when the cases came to light, and the footballer pleaded not guilty to the allegations in May 2022.

The trial against him and his friend Louis Saha (no relation of the same name) commenced on August 10, 2022, and they are both not guilty of all charges brought by the prosecution.

During this court process, Mendy declared that the accusations would haunt him “for life”, his footballing life was “over” and that this situation was “absolute hell”.

The allegations suggest that Mindy was a “predator” who met the girls in Manchester nightclubs before inviting them to private parties at his Cheshire mansion, where the assaults allegedly took place.

Mandy was arrested for the first time in November 2022, after he raped a 24-year-old woman three times.

After he was released under investigation, before another woman accused him of sexual assault, three other women accused him of rape, including a 17-year-old girl.
