The outlet explains that in November 2020, he contacted the State’s Attorneys’ Sentencing Review Unit (CRU), which determined his claim was reasonable and launched an investigation with the assistance of The Innocence Projecta non-profit organization that fights to exonerate the innocent.

“I never give up”

After reviewing, the CRU decided there was “reasonable suspicion” that Holmes is guilty because the conviction was based on the misidentification of a witness during the live line-up and photography which was common at the time.

Speaking to the media upon leaving Broward Main Prison on Monday, Holmes was emotional and commented that “despite the winding road, he never gave up hope.” “I never gave up,” he told the press. “My family has been by my side the whole time, so losing hope It wasn’t an option.”
