The woman had turned 109 last September and died in her hometown Santa Fe de La Lagunanear the tourist Lake PatzcuaroInternationally known for the colorful annual celebration of Day of the Dead.
Coco, produced by Pixar and winner of the 2017 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, tells the story of a boy who takes a fascinating journey into the realm of the dead in order to learn the history of his ancestors, particularly of his great-grandfather, Mama Coco’s father.
