The President of the European Parliament travels by surprise to Kiev

The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, made a surprise visit on Friday to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, to which she had already traveled last March to express EU support for Ukraine in the framework of the war.

“It’s good to be back. With these brave people who have inspired the world. With these heroes who refuse to give up. With those who sacrificed everything for our values. With the Europeans whose home is in our European Union,” he commented on his Twitter page Friday night.

For security reasons, no previous information about the flight was given, the same reason is the lack of details about Metsola’s schedule in Ukraine. The President of the European Parliament also posted the same message in the Ukrainian language, along with the Ukrainian flag and the EU flag.

Mitsola did indeed travel to Ukraine in March, where he met with the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and delivered a speech to the country’s parliament expressing support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
