The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Twitter his participation in the NATO summit in Vilnius, although he was somewhat alarmed by the state of negotiations over the terms to be included in the final declaration on Ukraine’s future membership. .

According to what Ukrainian sources reported to the ABC, the terms agreed upon in the last hours would have changed, which caused the Ukrainian president to be upset: “Ukraine also deserves respect. Now, on the way to Vilnius, we receive signals A specific formulation without Ukraine is being discussed, ”he said. He referred to the final text of the Vilnius Summit Declaration. “And I would like to emphasize that this wording refers to the invitation to NATO membership, and not to the membership of Ukraine,” he explained.

“There appears to be no provision for Ukraine to join NATO or to become a member of the alliance […] This means that an opportunity to negotiate Ukraine’s membership in NATO is left in the negotiations with Russia. “For Russia, this means an impulse to continue its terror,” Zelensky explained, upset by the decision. “Uncertainty is a weakness.
