Shawn Mendes is having a tough time on social media the day after Camila Cabello announces her IG hiatus
Shawn Mendes claims that social media made him uncomfortable so he had a hard time. Shortly after his ex-lover, Camila Cabello announced that he would take a temporary hiatus from playing Instagram.
Former Hollywood celebrity couple Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are back in the public eye. The reason is, both Shawn and Camila seem to be united in wanting to express the effects and difficulties they are facing due to social media.
Like Camila, who recently admitted that she wanted to take a hiatus from social media for a while. Camila made the announcement through her Instagram Story on Sunday (26/12).
In the post, Camila said she would stop playing social media and reduce her cellphone activity until the new year. The reason is, the singer of the song titled “Havana” admits that he wants to have more quality time without social media.
“Doing a social media detox until the new year!!!!” Camila wrote through her personal Instagram page. “Just wanted to spend less time on my phone this week x love y’all.”
Now, it’s Shawn’s turn to share his uncomfortable feelings about using social media. The 23-year-old singer admitted that she had gone through many difficult times because of social media.
Shawn shared the confession through his personal Instagram page shortly after Camila announced that she would be taking a hiatus from social media. Shawn expressed how he felt after seeing the public’s response to his new song “It’ll Be Okay” which was told to Camila.
In the video, Shawn also explains the reasons behind his reduced social media activity. The many rumors that said Shawn was no longer on good terms with Camila made the singer of the song titled “Treat You Better” have to open her voice.
Despite going through a difficult time, Shawn insists that his relationship with Camila is fine. He confirmed that the public’s excessive comments made him uncomfortable playing social media, especially after breaking up with Camila.
“I’m having a bit of a tough time right now and I have a great relationship with him,” Shawn said. “But I have a lot of people sending me videos and telling me what’s going on.”
Shawn also said that his intention to release the song “It’ll Be Okay” was just to express his feelings that he couldn’t convey. He admitted that he had no other intention besides this.
“I think when I make music, the main goal is to sit there and reveal my own truth to me,” he concluded. “A lot of times when I’m writing songs, I use music as a platform to get to a place inside of me that I can’t reach just by talking to people or thinking about them.”
