Macron announces a shipment to Kiev of missiles capable of attacking Russian territory

Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz presented themselves at the Vilnius Summit with a weapons package that will allow the Ukrainian army to attack Russian positions outside the defensive lines and better protect itself from Russian missiles.

Thus Paris joins London, which already in May announced the shipment of the missile Storm shadow, of Franco-British production in the MBDA missile consortium. With the ability to achieve goals 250 kilometers, Scalp is the French version of it Storm shadowwhich Ukraine would have already used to attack, for example, weapons depots or fuel refineries on Russian territory.

Macron avoided specifying how many missiles he would transfer to Ukraine. Some sources speak of fifty. “I have decided to increase shipments of weapons and equipment to allow the Ukrainians the ability to strike deep,” said President Macron upon his arrival at the Litexpo exhibition hall.

Ukraine will be able to launch these new missiles from Russian-made Sukhoi fighters.

In this way, Ukraine has a new supplier of this highly strategic weapon for attacking logistical sites and other targets. The United States, its main manufacturer with the Tomahawk, AGM-129 and AGM-158 variants, has so far avoided providing this capability to the Ukrainian military.
