Atletico Madrid have been eyeing Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso for a long time. Now, the Spanish club is eyeing the Spanish defender again.

Before signing Renan Lodi as the first-choice left-back in 2019, Atletico Madrid had indeed targeted Marcos Alonso from Chelsea.

Marcos Alonso also remained at Stamford Bridge, where he is still an important part of Thomas Tuchel’s Blues squad to this day.

Marcos Alonso is getting the confidence to play regularly with Chelsea, especially because of the injury to Ben Chilwell so the player must finish the season early.

Diego Simeone’s Dream Full-back
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone still sees Marcos Alonso as his dream left-back and could be transferred to Atletico Madrid when Ben Chilwell recovers from injury and is back on the left side of the Chelsea defence.

Marcos Alonso is very strong as a left wing-back when the team plays three men in the center of defence, which allows him to play attacking because basically playing defensively is not his strongest aspect.

However, Marcos Alonso is not the only player on Diego Simeone’s radar. Reinildo Mandava, a player who played for Lille in French Ligue 1, is also being considered for a signing by Atletico Madrid and they could join in the summer of 2022.
