Manchester United and Liverpool Compete for Mason Mount

Manchester United through their manager Erik Ten Hag is reportedly involved in a war with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in the transfer market. Reportedly, Ten Hag and Klopp are fighting over Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, whose contract is currently unclear.

Mount is currently one of the most important players at Chelsea. He made 160 appearances for his boyhood club.

He was also voted the best player of the season through internal club voting for two consecutive seasons. Even so, Mount was not satisfied.

Today, despite his influence, he is still on the list of the lowest paid players at Chelsea. Therefore, the new owner of The Blues Todd Boehly is reportedly ready to submit a new offer.

Talks had stalled because there was a club takeover process. But Boehly is prepared to keep him because he is considered an important asset for Chelsea.

Erik Ten Hag has reportedly been in love with Mount for a long time. Ten Hag has even monitored Mount Seak on loan at Vitesse in the 2017-2018 season.

United have approached Mount’s agent to inform them of their interest. Mount is expected to be one of the targets that can be brought by MU this season.

Ten Hag wants to bring in six new players this season. He wants to make United able to compete again with other clubs for trophies.

Reportedly MU and Liverpool also have other rivals. Manchester City and Barcelona are also interested in bringing this Chelsea academy dropout.

Mount on the other hand is pleased with the new owners. He is ready to appear again for the new season.

“It’s an exciting time because the new owners are here. It’s going to be fun,” Mount said.

Mason Mount is again a key player for Chelsea during the 2021-2022 season. The England international made 53 appearances in all competitions, contributing 13 goals and 16 assists in the process.

Mount’s contract at Stamford Bridge only has two years left. It is believed the 23-year-old midfielder is one of the lowest-paid players in the Chelsea first team.

Reportedly, talks about a new deal in London reportedly stalled. According to The Sun, new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keeping a close eye on the situation.

The report also claims that United have contacted Mount’s representatives. The 20-times Premier League champions have expressed interest in using Mount’s services.

Erik ten Hag is alleged to have been a huge admirer of Mount since playing on loan for Vitesse in the Netherlands during the 2017-18 season. The Dutch tactician did not want to miss the opportunity to bring him to Old Trafford in the transfer market this summer.

However, Man Utd are not alone in hunting for Mount’s signature. Manchester City and Liverpool are also believed to have taken an interest. Likewise with Barcelona who are also watching the situation in London.

Mason Mount scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 appearances for Chelsea in the Premier League during the 2021-22 season. His contribution brought Thomas Tuchel’s squad to finish in third.

He also made seven appearances in the Champions League scoring one goal and providing two assists. In addition, Mount also played 11 times in the English League Cup and FA Cup.

Mount has already shown his versatility by playing in a number of positions throughout the 2021-22 season. However, most of his appearances have come as a central attacking midfielder.

The England international had previously had a successful loan spell at Derby County during the 2018-19 season. He then returned to Stamford Bridge as a first team player.

Mason Mount has represented the Blues on 160 occasions across all competitions, contributing 30 goals and 31 assists.
