Paul Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford will expire at the end of June 2022. Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed the France midfielder will leave on a free transfer.
Juventus, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain continue to be linked with the 29-year-old. However, there have been reports, recently, which claim that the 2018 World Cup winner is also open to staying in the Premier League.
The Daily Star reports that Manchester City have been approached to discuss the possibility of signing Pogba in recent weeks. Rivan MU can get it for free.
However, the report also claims that the seven-times Premier League champions have made it clear they are not interested in bringing Pogba to the Etihad Stadium next season.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also stated in 2018 that the club had turned down the opportunity to sign the former Juventus man. At that time, Jose Mourinho was the manager of Manchester United.
Pogba’s performance this season with Manchester United has been less convincing. He has just scored and provided nine assists in 27 appearances for Man United this season.
Pogba is now struggling to return to Manchester United before the end of the season due to a calf problem.
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick says Paul Pogba will not play again this season. The reason the French midfielder suffered a calf injury.
“Right now there’s no need to think about that because he can’t play against Arsenal and maybe the next United games. As it looks right now, he won’t be extending his contract and I don’t know if the club or Erik want to extend his contract,” Rangnick said.
Rangnick’s comments made Pogba furious. The former Juventus player admitted that he still wanted to play for the Red Devils before the season ended.
“Obviously I’m disappointed I couldn’t help the team against Arsenal,” Pogba wrote on social media. As is known, MU lost 1-3 to Arsenal in the Premier League continued at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (23/4/2022).
“I will train harder to recover and hopefully before the end of the season. It’s not over yet. Thank you for all the support, united we are strong,” he added.
Paul Pogba is believed to be leaving Manchester United at the end of the season. However, he instead created an unfavorable atmosphere with the Red Devils fans.
The 29-year-old was the target of mockery from Man Utd fans. He was cheered on when replaced by Juan Mata in the 74th minute.
As reported by Metro, after the match Pogba was caught on camera holding his ear to the MU fans. This seems to be the answer to the ridicule of the 20-times English Premier League champions after their 3-2 win over Norwich City at Old Trafford, 16 April.
Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick immediately commented on the incident between Pogba and Manchester United fans. The German strategist hopes fans don’t target one player.
“To be honest, I don’t hear the booing of the United fans,” Rangnick said. “But we discussed this with my staff in the locker room.”
“I think the fans here are amazing. I don’t think it’s appropriate to target one player because it’s a collective game,” Rangnick added.
