MANCHESTER – Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the first leg of the 2021-2022 Champions League semifinal. Ahead of the big game, Man City striker Gabriel Jesus is wary of Madrid’s flying hours in the Champions League.
Jesus’ alert attitude is natural because Madrid is the most successful team in the Champions League with a collection of 13 trophies. On the other hand, Man City are still trying to get their first Champions League trophy.
As is known, the performance of Jesus lately is stealing the attention. The Brazilian player just scored a quattrick when his team beat Watford with a landslide score of 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, Saturday 23 April 2022 ago.
Jesus can be a deadly weapon for Man City when dealing with Madrid. For your information, the first leg will take place at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, on Wednesday 27 April 2022.
Jesus predicts, the match will be a real test for Man City. The 25-year-old player is wary of Madrid who are kings in the Champions League.
“You can’t just stop them, Real Madrid, not only the club but also the players, have experience in the Champions League knockout stages, and that’s important of course,” said Jesus, quoted by Marca, Monday (25/4/2022) .
“But, we also believe in ourselves. Last year, we reached the final and unfortunately we lost, but we got there.”
Jesus also mentioned one player who could potentially trouble his team’s back line, namely Vinicius Junior. Not without reason, Jesus often plays with Vinicius in the Brazilian national team so he knows the quality of his compatriot.
“I’m happy to help my team, but this time it’s different with the other players, Vinicius will play, he used to be there too, but now he’s much more mature,” he added.
“I’m a big fan of him, I hope he can get better and better in the future. I wish him luck, but not when he fights me!” he concluded.
