Domestic comedy “Be Somebody” continues to lead the Chinese box office

Domestic comedy-suspense film “Be Somebody” continued to top the mainland Chinese box office chart on Wednesday, data from the China Movie Data Information Network said Thursday.

The film is about a group of frustrated filmmakers who come together to plan a new film about a notorious criminal case.

It grossed about 14.7 million yuan (about 2.31 million US dollars) on Wednesday, accounting for 48.5 percent of the day’s total.

Domestic suspense film “Door Lock” was second on the box office chart, earning about 4.23 million yuan on Wednesday as reported by Xinhua.

It was followed by the war film “Railway Heroes,” with a daily gross of more than 3 million yuan on its 13th day of screening.

Synopsis: During the Republican era, a group of frustrated filmmakers have come together to make a film of a big case that once rocked the city of Shanghai in hopes that it will turn into a big sensation and make them famous.

However, they never expected that the “murderer” would be in their midst and that the truth behind the case would be so much stranger than the plot of their fictional film.***
