Cate Blanchett Comments on Don't Look Up Movie Called Similar to a Documentary

Don’t Look Up is like a quip for reality, but there are times when it starts filming a little too real, according to Cate Blanchett, who is also part of the cast.

A lot is happening in the new comedy “Don’t Look Up”. Previously, the main actor Leonardo DiCaprio had explained the parallel relationship between the plot of the film and what happened in the real world.

The film is clearly a satirical reality, but at times, it starts to be filmed a little too real, according to Cate Blanchett. As part of the film’s ensemble cast, Blanchett opened up about the Netflix Original hit in a new interview with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.”

As the actress explained, the story feels so real as filming continues that it starts to look like a documentary. The director, Adam McKay wrote the film just a few years before the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.

“That’s the thing. Adam wrote this a few years before the pandemic, and every second we were on set, it became less and less satire-like and felt more like a documentary.

Even when he was at the post, there was a comet in Earth’s orbit that was deflected, I don’t know, by China, Russia, by chance. You know, all of this happened.”

Although he didn’t appear much in the lead role, Blanchett enjoyed his role in the film. “I had a really lovely little role playing an entertainment news anchor, which was a lot of fun. But, you know, I think we all want to be a part of it,” she added.

As is well known, “Don’t Look Up” has become a huge hit for Netflix, and there is no doubt that its star-studded cast contributed to its success.

The film, in addition to featuring DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in the lead roles, also stars Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothee Chalamet, Ron Perlman, and Ariana Grande.

“Don’t Look Up” was also named one of the ten best films of the year at the American Film Institute Awards. As for Blanchett, she was also recently seen in Guillermo del Toro’s latest film “Nightmare Alley” alongside Bradley Cooper, Willem Dafoe, Toni Collette, and Ron Perlman.
