74% of the French want the resignation of the Macron government

According to the estimates of several identical and highly reliable opinion polls, 74% of the French want to approve a motion of no confidence on Monday, in the National Assembly (AN), which would precipitate the fall of the government of Emmanuel Macron, in France. It’s hard to control.

According to a poll published by the “CNews” channel, 82% of the French said they were “angry” with President Macron after resorting to Article 49.3 of the constitution, to obtain approval by decree without parliamentary debate, a project to reform the national pension system.

According to the same study, the “anger” of the French increased by 40 points during two months of polemics, debates, strikes and street demonstrations. This is an exceptional indicator, which can only be compared with moments of a major national crisis.

According to another survey published by the “Journal du Dimanche” (JDD) weekly, only 28% of French people said they were “satisfied” with the behavior of the head of state, and 70% were dissatisfied or completely dissatisfied. It is the lowest level of popular appreciation for the president since the crisis and the popular ringleader of the “yellow vests”, between 2018 and 2019.

In the face of this disastrous development of opinion polls, motions of censure to the National Assembly, the first chamber of the national parliament, have become a national psychological drama.

La Francia Insumisa (LFI), the far-left, PS, PCF and environmentalists decided on Saturday to join their motion to censure another proposal by the LIOT group (Libertades, Independientes, Overseas and Territories), to give more power. for one joint movement. Agrupación Nacional (AN, far right) made a second movement. In all, these parliamentary blocs have only 260 seats, insufficient to win a motion of no confidence, which must have at least 289 votes in favor, out of 577 seats.

The success or failure of the vote of no confidence, on Monday afternoon, will depend on the final vote of Los Republicanos (LR, traditional right), which has 61 seats.

In the face of an alternative, according to a poll published by the weekly “Le Point”, at noon Sunday, 74% of the French want censorship and the resignation of the government of Emmanuel Macron, and harassment of the street, unions and opposition from everyone. On the national political scale, with many divisions and doubts in his party and centrist allies.

The Conference of Parliamentary Caucus Chairs, in the AN, must “study” motions of censure on Monday at 4 p.m. If there were no postponement or the success or failure of the vote of no confidence, it would confirm, either way, that it is very difficult to govern France today.

If censorship wins, the government will have to resign, and Macron will have to change the government or call early general elections. It’s the most “horrific” scenario. There will be no clear majority to rule: Macron will be in a very bad position, but the extreme right and extreme left, the forces of the majority, will not be able to rule either.

If the censorship fails, Macron will have to confront the mob in the streets, with a series of strikes and protest demonstrations called over the next few days.
